Texas Promise Academy, a new full-time, tuition-free virtual program operated by Klein ISD, will host their inaugural class during the 2026-2027 school year. Designed for students in grades 6-12 across the state, Texas Promise Academy will provide families with a flexible learning option that combines high-quality instruction, certified Texas teachers, and meaningful student support.
As the opening of the academy approaches, the Texas Promise Academy team has been working diligently to build a strong foundation for students and families. From developing student support systems and preparing learning experiences to selecting technology platforms and creating opportunities for connection, staff members have been focused on ensuring students feel welcomed, supported, and prepared for success from their first day.
“Opening Texas Promise Academy is an exciting opportunity to welcome families into a new way of learning while maintaining the strong academic expectations and support that families know from Klein ISD,” Texas Promise Academy Director Leslie Kompelien said. “Our team has been working with great passion and purpose, and we cannot wait to welcome our students and families.”
The program will offer full-time virtual learning for students across Texas, as well as a flex scheduling option for eligible Klein ISD students who want to combine online learning with opportunities to participate in activities such as athletics, fine arts, and Career and Technical Education programs.
“Students today have diverse and evolving needs, and the best thing we can do is evolve alongside them. Virtual learning done well has the power to meet kids where they are, and I'm excited to help shape what that looks like for our community,” Texas Promise Academy teacher Ms. Jennifer Everett said.
Preparing for Student Success
The Texas Promise Academy staff has spent months preparing for the arrival of students by designing systems and structures that support both academic achievement and student connection. Teachers are preparing engaging online instruction, developing opportunities for communication and collaboration, and creating clear expectations to help students become successful virtual learners.
Students enrolled in Texas Promise Academy will benefit from:
Certified Texas Teachers: Instruction provided by experienced educators dedicated to student success.
Flexible Learning Options: Full-time virtual learning opportunities designed to meet a variety of student needs.
Strong Academic Expectations: A focus on rigorous coursework, including advanced academic opportunities.
Student Support: Intentional systems designed to ensure students have access to teachers, resources, and guidance.
