Mrs. Holly Fischer, 3rd-grade Math and Science teacher at Bernshausen Elementary, has been selected as one of five Region 4 Elementary Teacher of the Year finalists.
Region 4, which serves 87 school districts, 1.2 million students, 105,000 educators, and 1,500 campuses across seven counties, announced the selection this week.
“Holly Fischer is an exceptional educator in our Klein ISD Family,” Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown said. “After 30 years in the classroom, she is still looking for new ways to grow, strengthen her teaching, and better serve her students. You can see Holly’s heart for people in the way she cares for her students, supports their families, and encourages her colleagues. She understands that the small things - listening, showing up, and helping every student feel known and valued - are often the things that make the biggest difference. We are so proud that Holly is part of the Bernshausen Elementary community, and our entire Klein Family is cheering her on.”
Mrs. Fischer’s regional finalist selection comes a few months after she was named the Klein ISD Elementary Teacher of the Year for 2026.
“Being named a Region 4 finalist is such a surreal and humbling honor, and I'm honestly still a little shocked. I have the privilege of working alongside some of the most talented and inspiring educators, and I know I wouldn't be the teacher I am today without their guidance and support,” Mrs. Fischer said. “More than anything, though, this recognition belongs to my students. They inspire me, challenge me, and motivate me to be better every single day. While I hope I'm making a difference in their lives, the truth is they teach me just as much through their resilience, curiosity, and joy. This honor reminds me how blessed I am to do a job I love alongside incredible colleagues and amazing students who make me want to keep learning and growing every day.”
Teachers like Mrs. Fischer make a difference not only in the lives of students but also in the lives of the educators who surround them. Her positive energy, joy, and willingness to start fresh every day leave everyone around her inspired and refocused on what truly matters: making sure every child feels supported and seen in the classroom.
“Mrs. Fischer lives out what it means to be committed to every - every student she teaches, every staff member she supports, and every parent with whom she partners,” Bernshausen Principal David Menendez said. “She approaches each person with joy, compassion, and a genuine heart for service. Mrs. Fischer leads her team by ensuring that every member feels supported and is equipped for success. Her unwavering commitment to continuous learning and growth makes her an outstanding example for our entire staff."
We are so honored to have a teacher of this caliber right here in Klein ISD and wish Mrs. Fischer luck as she continues in the running to become the Region 4 Teacher of the Year. Congratulations, Holly! Your Klein Family is rooting for you!
