Klein ISD is proud to celebrate the outstanding talent and dedication of its student performers, musicians, and educators who were recognized with prestigious Tommy Tune Awards for excellence in Musical Theater.

The Tommy Tune Awards, presented by Theatre Under the Stars, recognize excellence in Musical Theater among students and their teachers throughout the greater Houston area. Participating schools produce a full-length musical that is evaluated by professional Houston-based music and theater artists across more than 18 award categories.

“Our high schools consistently deliver exceptional productions that showcase the creativity, artistry, and dedication of our students and educators,” Klein ISD Director of Fine Arts Mr. Frank Chuter said. “These performances reflect countless hours of collaboration and hard work, giving students the opportunity to grow as artists, build confidence, and share their talents with our community.”

At the September Klein ISD Board of Trustees meeting, the district celebrated two award-winning productions from the previous Tommy Tune Awards.

Klein High School: Outstanding Orchestra

Klein High School received the ‘Outstanding Orchestra’ award for its production of Crazy for You.

The award highlights the incredible musicianship and teamwork of the students who brought the production's music to life from the pit.

Klein Collins High School: Outstanding Scenic Design

Klein Collins High School received the ‘Outstanding Scenic Design’ award for its production of All Shook Up.

Their award reflects the artistry and behind-the-scenes craftsmanship that play an essential role in creating a successful musical theater production.
